Retta Parker Stevenson
Chief Clinical Officer, LPCC, LCPC, LPC, ATR-BC®
Retta brings nearly twenty years of clinical experience supporting individuals, groups, and families in outpatient, inpatient, residential, and partial hospital settings nationwide. Her background spans a wide range of presenting concerns—including depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, attachment issues, eating disorders, developmental disorders, neurodivergence, psychosis, and more.
She has facilitated domestic-violence prevention workshops, provided art therapy to eating-disorder recovery programs and indigenous youth, and developed regional studio-based psychosocial rehabilitation programs.
Additional experience in secure psychiatric residential treatment facilities and with individuals on conservatorship has shaped her ability to provide grounded, compassionate care in complex clinical environments. She has designed programs, overseen staff, led treatment planning, and delivered therapy with a focus on safety, dignity, and personal growth.
Throughout her career, Retta has been a strong advocate for the professional practice of Art Therapy. She has contributed to legislative efforts, guest-lectured on cultural identity and creative expression, and led workshops clarifying the role of professional art therapists.
At the heart of her work is a belief in the transformative power of the creative process. Her approach is individualized, culturally sensitive, and grounded in the conviction that creative expression can build therapeutic alliances, facilitate internal growth, and promote lasting wellbeing.
